Common Questions

Answers for Engineers & Buyers

The details that matter when you’re sourcing precision-machined parts.

What tolerances can RG hold?

RG holds close tolerances down to ±0.0002″ on precision CNC turning, milling, and grinding, with standard work typically at ±0.001″–±0.0005″. Send the tightest tolerance on your print and we’ll confirm fit.

What materials does RG machine?

Steel, alloy and tool steel, stainless steel, aluminum, copper, brass, and bronze, plus Inconel and other high-temp alloys, and plastics including Delrin and polypropylene.

Does RG do Swiss-style machining?

Yes. Our Ganesh Cyclone Swiss-style lathe runs small-diameter, high-precision turned parts from 0.25″ to 1.375″ — ideal for tight-tolerance components.

What are RG’s lead times for prototypes and short runs?

RG specializes in prototype, pre-production, and short-run work. We respond to every quote request within one business day and schedule around your timeline.

Does RG provide PPAP and FAI documentation?

Yes — First Article Inspection (FAI), Level 4 PPAP, and First Article Qualification Package (FPQP) documentation are part of our quality program.

What part sizes and volumes does RG handle?

Small, close-tolerance parts — roughly hand-size up to a shoebox — from one-off prototypes through low-hundred short runs and blanket / release orders.

Can RG reverse-engineer a part from a sample?

Yes. We offer reverse engineering and value engineering — bring an existing part or sample and we’ll help reproduce or improve it.
